Sexism in Action: Why We Went to Vacation in Dagestan Without Husbands

This year my friend and I went on a trip to Dagestan. It lasted a little less than a week. The purpose of our trip was clear to us, but it turns out that there are still people (and there are many of them) who prejudice girls who travel without men.

Hello everyone, my name is Alexandra on the right). And my friend and I went together to Dagestan. Hello everyone, my name is Alexandra (I m on the right). And my friend and I went together to Dagestan. I share my impressions

The trip to Dagestan turned out to be very bright in terms of emotions . And there are reasons for that. The first – the most obvious – is the beauty of this region . The second – already more personal – is the opportunity to travel with your beloved friend in a female company . So why is women s company so important?

When I shared my emotions from traveling in Dagestan on this channel, I met comments where the purpose of our trip was indicated by obscene language or simply offensive expressions about the fact that we came for the sake of men.

I used to take this personally and lamented, how can such a sweet me be so cruelly offend?! 🙂 Now I understand that you shouldn t be behind such comments. Spoiler: I and my travels have nothing to do with it 🙂 Now I understand that you shouldn t be behind such comments. Spoiler alert: I and my travels have nothing to do with it

I try to ignore such attacks , because it becomes clear that the author of the statement is not distinguished by intelligence and, most likely, is simply unhappy and unconsciously trying to feel better at the expense of humiliating others.

What s more interesting is that there were people who, for all their adequacy and culture, were just full of prejudices and stereotypes … So, one man – intelligent, judging by the comments, – simply refused to believe that we did not come to look for men.

I would like to clarify that we, by our appearance and I, in our articles, have never given a reason to decide that we have come for this kind of entertainment. for this kind of entertainment

At that moment I thought about it and realized that it s not about me and it s not even about the commentator. The point is that we are different . I live in Moscow, here morals are much freer than in Dagestan. And I m not talking about a messy personal life – I mean that we think differently.

In Dagestan, due to cultural differences it is still felt that there is a certain style of thinking , within which a person (in particular, that commentator) cannot believe that it is possible to leave a husband with children just for the sake of rest . It is even more difficult for him to accept the fact that the husband is ready to “ sit with the child at this time.

But we are very grateful to our men that they understand our goals and are ready for the sake of our vacation “ sit with children But we are very grateful to our men that they understand our goals and are ready for the sake of our vacation “ sit with children

And if within the framework of our culture each of us acts within the normal limits, then at the junction of two cultures there is sexism . I m starting to think that a man has some kind of prejudice against women who travel freely. Immediately thinks that looking for adventures of a special nature.

At the same time, I myself do no better . I think that since this is a man , that is why he treats me this way. After all, not a single woman wrote such comments (a little later I remembered that there was one furious “ commentator with very vulgar thoughts). And this particular man just could have had a bad experience at one time.

Someday we will learn to identify stereotypes, prejudices, prejudices and so on in ourselves (but this is not certain). In the meantime, just admiring the view from the Gunib plateau Someday we will learn to identify stereotypes, prejudices, prejudices and so on (but this is not certain). In the meantime, just admiring the view from the Gunib plateau

So what was the real goal of our trip without husbands if not what many thought? Roughly the same as the women s camp:

  • change the atmosphere,
  • chat a lot,
  • be in a women s company,
  • share with each other the joy of the species around us and
  • just be girls with girly jokes, thoughts and actions (for example, photographing each other at each step 100,500 times from different angles).

And, by the way, our only joint photo, taken from the side, was taken by girls too! And before that, we photographed them together, while their man was walking around the neighborhood (he took a photo for a show and left to wander) And, by the way, our only joint photo, taken from the side, was also taken by the girls! And before that, we took pictures of them together, while their man was walking around the neighborhood (he took a picture for a tick and left to wander)

Have you noticed any prejudice? Do you admit them or do you think you are right? Share your opinion in the comments. Prejudice doesn t make us bad. This makes us ordinary people.
