There are famous sights in Dagestan that are known far beyond the borders of the republic (for example, the Sulak canyon). And there are more modest comrades. And yet they are impressive. One of these places is the so-called Stone Bowl.
Our route through the mountainous part of Dagestan lined up almost on the go. We had a rough idea of the plan for the day, but, as often happens, stayed at the sights longer than expected.
Initially, in the Khunzakh region, we wanted to see only the Tobot waterfall¹ , but it turned out that we had time. Therefore, we opened our map with pre-marked points and went to see Lake Mochokh² and the Stone Bowl.

And what is this pile of stones? – you ask. And you will be right. It is a pile of stones dumped in the gorge . The photo above perfectly illustrates the presence of stones, but the gorge is poorly visible. Therefore, I propose to look at the Stone Bowl in dynamics:

In general The stone bowl represents several of these` `halls with passages between them . There are many stones everywhere.
This place is difficult to photograph so that it becomes clear what it is. I myself didn’t want to come here from the very beginning, because the photos do not convey the essence of this place.

I imagined that this is just a far-fetched attraction that I don t want to waste time on. I was wrong.
The place is interesting, sparsely populated (compared to star attractions) and, importantly, easily accessible. Almost by the road.
And you can still make some pretty good shots AND you can get some nice shots
I can see why this place is not very popular … On our map, which had a bunch of marked points, The stone bowl was on the edge … But excursions are carried here, there are people here. Just not in the quantities in which people come to Gamsutl or to the Salta waterfall, for example.
There is a slight minus
b> – lack of any infrastructure directly near the attraction. That is, do not count on toilet, coffee and parking. Although for me this is a plus 🙂
